It is with much sadness that we report the death of Tony Hooper earlier this week.Tony and Margaret, his wife, were stalwarts of The Guild for many years.Tony took many major roles and I can still see him now walking along the narrow orchestra balustrade in the auditorium, whilst singing “ I am the very model of a modern Major-General” for our production of The Pirates of Penzance when we staged this wonderful show in 2010, under the directorship of the late Tom Goodluck. Tony was interested in any type of theatre and, coming from Wales, had a wonderful singing voice.Although unable to participate in recent years, Tony and Margaret came to support many of The Guild productions. Our condolences and love go to Margaret and to Richard their son.
